Sun Microsystem: www.sun.com

URL: www.sun.com

The famous company Sun Microsystems, that develops many of the things being commonly used, in the market. Let it be hardware such as storage system or a server or software or an operating system. The company also offers certifications in the technology that they have made.  The company is currently expanding and developing more technologies with more complexities and improvements being made. But the power increases as well. And it all gets fun as we continue to learn more about the technologies.

We often have to go to the website of Sun Microsystems. But what may be reason for it? Internet is full of applications called applets. These applets are programs made in java. Now Sun Microsystems has introduced JavaFX which allows developers to create internet rich applications. And in order to run such applications we need to have the Java Virtual machine or JavaFX. These are just two examples of the many applications of java. The JVM is often called as J2RE (Java 2 Runtime Environment). We also have an operating system by Sun Microsystems called Open Solaris. Other products and services are also available. Sun Microsystems also provide an SDK for Mobiles and other development kits. Called the J2ME (Java 2 Micro edition) which allows us to create games, software’s for mobile and cellular phones. Getting back to Sun’s Website; the background is pale blue on which the whole website lies.

We have a quick menu to login to different accounts that users can have, beside this is the innovating at sun, community voice, how to buy menus which take the user to different things.

Below that is sun logo. And on its right, is the menu which allows the user to navigate through the entire website. This includes the Downloads & Trials, Products, Services, Solutions, Support, Training, Sun For… menus. And then the shortcut to download to famous things exists on the left below the logo.  These downloads include the things that are downloaded very often which can include Java, Net beans, Glass fish, open Solaris, xVM  VirtualBox, open office, JavaFX. Apart from this is the news panel which has the headlines of the latest innovations, or discussions at Sun Microsystems.

Though the thing that I did not like was there were too many panels. The number of panels can be reduced to make the site look neater. In a nutshell, the website has been organized in a very good manner to give us a better looking site; its cleanliness is very good apart from the factor of the panels. The website has no welcoming screen, which is not bad. As not all the websites require a welcoming screen. So here is the overall rating of the website

Very good tips for Java by experts

I found this link on www.sun.com . It is an article written by experts of Java. They shared a few tips but these tips are really good. I won’t be posting the tips here. It is a link to the website. The tips are not specific to any domain in java but they are very generalized and very well explained. I really liked the way the information was conveyed there.

The link is

JavaFX

JavaFX has been released on 4th of December 2008, a new technology by Sun Microsystems. JavaFX is a collection of software’s that allow us to create rich Internet applications (i.e. web applications). These applications will have functionality as well as features similar to the functionality and features of a traditional desktop application. The best thing that potentially sounds very nice is the capability of making multimedia applications. The applications can be for desktop, mobile, TV and other platforms.  There are 2 components of JavaFX, the two being JavaFX script and JavaFX Mobile.

The JavaFX script is a declarative language intended to make the swings (import java.swing.*; // for those who know java) easier to use for the interface programming. I liked the fact that it is not an expansion of the awt library class. As I think the look and feel of swing is far better than the awt library class.

JavaFX Mobile, this features a Java standard Edition and Java micro edition implementation running on top of a Linux kernel.
